HISTORY - PITERS & CO., is a law firm operating in the community of Ladner/Delta, British
Columbia. The firm was started in January of 1980 by Ronald E. Piters. Ron came to law after
extensive university training , he obtained his doctorate in Educational Administration and after a
distinguished career in higher education. Ron held the post of Academic Vice President of Red
Deer College, in Red Deer, Alberta at the age of 26. Ron also brought to his legal career a
background in law enforcement having served as a drug enforcement officer. Ron was called to
the bar in May of 1976 and practised in downtown Vancouver in Real Estate and Strata Title law.
In 1978 Ron came to the fishing centre of Ladner/Delta British Columbia and represented
numerous interests in the fishing industry including fish processors, fishermen, boat builders and
other maritime related interests.
Ron has always been active in the outdoors, enjoying fishing and hunting. Ron became disabled in 1991 but continues to pursue his love of the outdoors. Some of his recent hunting photos appear under the hunting photos tab.
One of our major clients, West Bay SonShip Yachts Ltd., (whose 103 foot SonShip appears at the
opening of this paragraph,) is the largest and arguably the best quality yacht builder in Canada. In
representing West Bay SonShip, PITERS & CO., has extensive experience in ship building contracts,
import and export of vessels from and to Canada, including related issues arising out of our many clients'’
wide and diversified connections with commercial and maritime law.
